The Mudbook Pro 2021, Jingdezhen, China
When I was departing Jingdezhen airport, my MacBook Pro ran out of power, leaving only the battery icon flashing on the screen, declaring its state of being “dead”. At that moment, I was confronted with this subconscious feeling of anxiety that much of our day-to-day lives are technologically mediated. The juxtaposition between the fragility of modern technology and the ancient technology of ceramics is explored in this work. In a way, this series of Mudbook Pro generates an alternative reality by embodying information and truth in its own materiality.
