Last Seen, video installation + artist book, 2018 - 2023
Last Seen is a video installation where I had my first heartbreak and wrote a love poem to my ex. I printed the poem on a piece of origami paper and made a paper heart for her. With its formal reference to a YouTube how-to tutorial video, this work demonstrates how to make an origami heart, but fails to do so by following the instructions. The tutorial playfully engages with the production of failure, actively involves viewers over time, leaving the participation open. While the project was intimately connected to my own experience, it seeks to make the private public, but in a dysfunctional way.
(inefficient) LOVE MANIFESTO is an independent art project initiated by Coordinator from July 2021 to March 2023. Artists and scholars from different realms participated in this project to discuss the evolution of the concept of love. The artist's book as an exhibition space provides a variety of perspectives for observing and thinking about what love means in contemporary society.
